With a new speed

Posted in Everyday life, Internet, Travel at 2:14 pm by asrye

After some starter hiccups when switching to a new service provider, the Internet at my dad’s place is now working 4 times faster, when we are paying less than we did before.

Hopefully, I will switch to another service provider at my house too. I will be choosing an even higher speed there, and we will only be paying about 10 € each month (for a speed of 10Mb/s), while now we are paying about 30 € (for a speed of 1Mb/s).

In a year, we will save about 240 €, which is half the price of my trip to London this spring, so I can say I’m pretty happy with my decision.

With a brand new Internet connection, I think it’s also time to finally buy a new domain (maybe I can use part of the money we will save) and move this blog to my own server, as well as create a nice enough design, so I’ll practice my web designing skills, after I just left them lying there for almost a year.  Better go and look for some inspiration!

Not a real coming back

Posted in Everyday life, Internet at 3:42 pm by asrye

Or so it seems, since I wrote zero posts since the first one. Life is weird like that, you know. There comes a time, when you have so much energy and ideas, and you could write and write and write … and then there comes a time, when you are just tired of school and all the other things you attend and you have no ideas and nothing to write about. But then again, there are just so many good things about wiriting: practicing my english, staying in touch with my friends, having fun, thinking about things … my life would be dull without it.

I’ve been thinking about making a proper site, after I learn some basics at the PHP class I’m attending and remember some HTML, long forgotten and lost. =) But, oh damn, my computer isn’t working because the adapter started BURNING for no reason and I have yet to take it to the repairman (?) since time can scarcely be found around here. (is that a weird sentance?)

Anyway, things I’m doing right now, in case you’ve been wondering:

  • Attending a PHP class
  • Attending CISCO 1
  • Learning Japanese (I have a class starting in an hour)
  • Thinking about what to put on my new website/what to blog about

You! Go and read a book, stop spending your time on the internet! =P
